Tyranny of Dragons
Preparation
Setting the sceneThis is High Adventure DnD. Fast paced and mostly about having fun. And saving lives. Give your toons personality.
You all know each other, and have been slowly building a business as a group of adventurers for hire in Baldur’s Gate. It’s an actual business – come up with a name (think Sword Coast International / Danger Inc. / 10 Foot Poles Ltd.), allocate roles (treasurer, marketing, GM, etc). You’re in it for the money, or the glory, or the camaraderie – whatever fits your character. You can split the business up how you’d like. Maybe someone is a newbie, maybe you’re all equal partners. Petty rivalries are ok, but generally you all get along.
You’ve had a few minor hires already, but nothing major and have been on the lookout for a bigger score. Which you would have already got if it weren’t for the knuckleheads from rival business Going Forward Mercenaries: ‘Move ahead with Going Forward!’. F*ckers, with their ridiculous orange tabards.
As a consequence of the slight downturn in business, you’re out traipsing around Greenfields on the Southern Sword Coast after receiving an anonymous tip off that ‘things were going down’ in the area. Rumours of raids and pillaging of local communities has reached your ears and you figure this could be a good way to establish your bona fides as Adventurers of Note (aka Adventurers Worth Paying).
Whilst the tip off was low in specifics, you’re all aware that the long established but not often heard from Cult of the Dragon has recently been making more noise than normal, particularly up North. But you’re down South, so surely it’s not them causing a ruckus. Right?
Feel free to roll any class/race you like. You’re all level one. Fun to roll up on the night, but if you want to do it ahead of time then use DMJJ’s patent 90 point system for stats.
I have some background story hooks if anyone wants one. Also happy to entertain ideas for things you might want based on the above.
Adventure on!
